SEAN MCGOWAN NEW SINGLE 'ROMANCE ISN'T DEAD' // WATCH THE VIDEO // EUROPE AND UK TOUR WITH THE LEVELLERS

Sean McGowan has released his latest single ‘Romance Ain’t Dead’ taken from his debut album Son of the Smith. Buy the album now on white vinyl, CD and download. Watch the animated video for it below:

Opening-up about the song, Sean says:

“‘Romance Ain't Dead’ is a song about escaping the mundane. I spent so many hours people watching and day-dreaming whilst working in retail. Hoping for a bit of adventure and spontaneity. It's a hard one to sing but satisfying to play!”

The single arrives as Sean plots a series of big European support shows with kindred spirits, The Levellers. Joining his fellow south coast folk-punk heroes for the whole run, Sean will find himself back on home turf again for dates in Cardiff, Brighton, Bristol, Norwich, and Nottingham as the leg bends back to Blighty (21-25 Nov).

Then, driving home for Christmas to the promise of his biggest ever hometown gig, Sean will be receiving something of a hero’s welcome as he headlines Southampton’s The 1865 on 15 December - a show dubbed: ‘Sean McGowan: The Son of Smith Comes Home for Crimbo’. Featuring very special guests Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. and Cassava, the last few tickets are available here. Sean McGowan released his “outstanding” (8/10, Louder Than War) debut album Son of the Smith via Xtra Mile Recordings in May 2018. A year Sean surely won’t be forgetting soon, the young and talented punk poet has pinballed across Europe performing with his heroes Billy Bragg, Will Varley, Skinny Lister, and Frank Turner; worked with coveted songwriter and producer Get Cape. Wear Cape Fly.; released a string of infectious singles (‘Cuppa Tea’, ‘Off the Rails’); and even performed to a momentous sold out crowd in his hometown at Southampton’s legendary Joiners venue.

Bowing out of a buoyant year and into a bright future, catch Sean at his last remaining dates this winter as follows:

LARRY AND HIS FLASK RELEASE CLOSING TRACK FROM NEW ALBUM 'THIS REMEDY' // LISTEN TO 'THREE MANHATTANS'

Larry And His Flask are pleased to present ‘Three Manhattans’, the sentimental send-off lifted from the band’s forthcoming studio album This Remedy, their first set of new music in five years, out 12 October 2018 on Xtra Mile Recordings. Preorder This Remedy on vinyl, CD and download here. Listen to ‘Three Manhattans’ below.

The Bend, OR-based “Post-Americana” band is more than the sum of its parts: Jamin Marshall, Ian Cook, Andrew Carew, Jesse Marshall and Kirk Skatvold have formed something fresh and unique in This Remedy, cherry-picking some of the best elements of multiple genres to create a high energy gut-punch of a sound, that somehow remains sweet and harmonious.

Hailing from the Pacific Northwest in the eastern shadow of the Cascade mountain range, the landscape seems to flow into their music like the many rivers that crisscross their native territory. After getting their start in 2003 as a blood, sweat and beers punk ensemble, they cut their teeth all across the US and Canada and along the way, found their calling as a folk/rock, bluegrass, gypsy jazz/swing monster.

2010 saw the start of a string of solid releases; beginning with a self-titled EP, 2011’s All That We Know, 2012’s Hobo’s Lament and 2013’s By The Lamplight. Those collections have taken them on tours all around the globe, capturing audiences from Honolulu to Holland and everywhere in between.

A notoriously raucous live band, Larry And His Flask have always seemed to deliver the best of both worlds: an output of melodic, engaging records and a maelstrom of a live performance.

2018 marks the return of the band after a short hiatus - Jamin moved to a small island in the Caribbean, Andrew went into construction, Ian became a father of twins - and judging from the material that comprises This Remedy, they’re all the better for it.

“We have all learned to get along better. Our time apart has calmed us down a bit and we have all grown up a lot,” Jamin says of the past five years the band was on hiatus. “Personally, my outlook is much more focused on the broad picture now. Whereas in the past I was just focused on getting drunk and going crazy at the show. It was a night-to-night kind of life. But now I have a long term goals, a wonderful girlfriend and two dogs. I think we are ready to take this band seriously, write great music and put on a fun show every night.”

This Remedy continues Larry and His Flask’s mastery of breaking down the barriers and blurring the lines between genres to create a signature sound all their own, while retaining every ounce of jubilation and sing-along power they’ve become loved for.

They’ll be hitting the road in support of the new record this fall. Larry and His Flask will be making the following North American appearances in October 2018. Dates below.

OXYGEN THIEF NEW ALBUM 'CONFUSION SPECIES' OUT 16 NOVEMBER 2018 // PREORDER NOW // LISTEN TO 'GRAFFITI; IRONY; LISTS' AND 'UNCOMMON PEOPLE'

Bristol-based alternative-rock trio, Oxygen Thief have shared the new riff-ladened single ‘Graffiti; Irony; Lists’ alongside announcing full details of their new album, Confusion Species, set for release on 16 November 2018 through Xtra Mile Recordings. Preorder it on transparent blue vinyl, CD and download here. There will also be an orange and black splatter vinyl edition, limited to 100, to be sold on the November tour dates.

Listen to first single ‘Graffiti; Irony; Lists’ below:

Listen to another track from the album, ‘Uncommon People’.

It’s been just over four years since the release of Oxygen Thief’s second album, The Half-Life of Facts, and the world has changed a lot in that time. In fact, a lot has changed since Barry Dolan started the project in Bristol back in 2006, and the 11 tracks of Confusion Species are the sound of him trying to make sense of it all, rather than be overwhelmed, lost and consumed by the sludge and noise of this modern, Brexit and Trump world.

“Everyone is constantly bombarded with things in the news and on social media”, says guitarist and vocalist, Barry Dolan. “Your phone’s going off all the time and there’s a constant need to keep up with things. As someone who tries to be politically engaged, I want to stay informed, but there’s a point where that tide just becomes overwhelming.”

In support of Confusion Species, Oxygen Thief will take to the road throughout the UK with Jonah Matranga in November, as well as performing as Jonah’s backing band for his 20-year anniversary performances of Far’s classic Water + Solutions, and finishing up with a headline show at The Monarch in London:

November 2018

06 Isle Of Wight @ Strings (w/ Jonah Matranga and performing Far’s Water + Solutions)
07 Tunbridge Wells @ Forum (w/ Jonah Matranga and performing Far’s Water + Solutions)
08 Norwich @ Waterfront (w/ Jonah Matranga and performing Far’s Water + Solutions)
09 Corby @ White Hart (w/ Jonah Matranga and performing Far’s Water + Solutions)

11 Bristol @ Crofters (w/ Jonah Matranga and performing Far’s Water + Solutions)
12 Stoke @ Sugarmill (w/ Jonah Matranga and performing Far’s Water + Solutions)
13 Southampton @ Joiners (w/ Jonah Matranga and performing Far’s Water + Solutions)
14 Leicester @ Firebug (w/ Jonah Matranga and performing Far’s Water + Solutions)
15 London @ The Monarch (Album Launch and Headline Show)

Tickets: www.1.xtramilerecordings.com/oxygen-thief-tour-dates/

Simultaneously angry at and perplexed by the state of, well, everything, Confusion Species is a raucous, bellicose call-to-arms punctuated by Oxygen Thief’s now-trademark barrage of furious riffs and chaotic layers of intense and inspiring sounds.

Oxygen Thief are:

Barry Dolan - Guitar, Vocals
Neil Elliott - Bass
Ben Whyntie - Drums

GET CAPE. WEAR CAPE. FLY. 'YOUNG ADULT*' DELUXE EDITION ON DIGITAL DOWNLOAD // UK TOUR WITH 7-PIECE BAND OCTOBER 2018

Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. has released a special deluxe edition of his acclaimed 2018 album, Young Adult, released in January.

Get Cape Wear Cape Fly - Young Adult Deluxe Edition - sleeve - web.jpg

Young Adult* released on 28 September 2018, is the expanded digital-only release featuring new material including single ‘Try’ and unreleased song ‘Quite Right’, plus exclusive ‘Yung Adult’ remixes of the album’s standout moments, as re-worked by the fair hand of Sam Duckworth himself.

In addition, the companion set will collect a smattering of live highlights from some of Get Cape’s most memorable shows from 2018, with tracks cherry-picked from his appearances at Frank Turner’s Lost Evenings II, plus his emotional hometown appearance at Southend’s SS2 venue.

Speaking about the new release, Sam Duckworth AKA Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. says:

“It’s been over a year since Young Adult was recorded and a good year it has been. The band has grown in size and in spirit, there have been mixtapes, new songs and some really fun shows. I wanted to convey some of the joy and energy of the live shows from 2018 and what better way than to release some of the live shows we recorded. The Reading/Leeds ‘Yung Adult’ mixtape was fun to make and included some reworkings of the tracks from the album, as well as the debut of ‘Try’. ‘Quite Right’ was recorded just before the tour in May and feels like it’s of the same era as the songs of Young Adult but also with one foot in the new. It’s exciting to enter this forthcoming tour with a celebration of music from throughout the year.”

2018 has been something of a benchmark for the Essex-based artist, with the release of this buoyant new collection a true testament to Duckworth’s re-invigorated return as Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. Reviving the moniker after a lengthy hiatus, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. dug-deep to unearth his finest and most forthcoming work in years in latest studio album. Featuring a string of equally different and individually brilliant singles including ‘Adults’, ‘Always’, ‘Just A Phase’, ’DNA’, and ‘VHS Forever’, the album was met with warm reviews from fans and critics alike, with Louder Than War praising Sam’s skill for “catchy and introspective 3-minute pop songs”, while Upset Magazine championed the record as “soundtrack to a revolution” (4/5).

Making his return to the live stage with a triumphant one-off UK show at Village Underground in London back in January to mark the release of Young Adult (a show hailed by The Independent as “a heartfelt and raucous performance” (4/5)), Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. has continued to win over fans old and new with a string of warmly received live appearances and festival shows including those at Lost Evenings II, Reading & Leeds and beyond.

In the company of his full live band once more, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.s full UK tour takes place October 2018. Kicking off at Lincoln’s Engine Shed on 4 October, the two-week run will see Duckworth and co. hit up 12 cities in total with highlights including an appearance at Manchester’s Neighbourhood Festival (6 Oct) and a grand finale at London’s Islington

MULL HISTORICAL SOCIETY NEW SONG 'LITTLE BIRD' // WATCH LIVE VIDEO FEATURING BERNARD BUTLER

Listen to new song 'Little Bird' taken from the forthcoming album from Mull Historical Society, on streaming sites and an instant grat for those who preorder Wakelines for 21 September 2018. Preorder here.

Watch the live video of 'Little Bird' played by Colin MacIntyre and producer Bernard Butler on piano, recorded at Butler’s home studio.

Colin says: “This felt like a special track for both me and Bernard. I wrote it about daughters”. Colin has also been confirmed to play the True North Festival in Aberdeen and the Tobermory Book Festival.

Butler said of the making of the album: “I helped the brilliant Colin MacIntyre make his beautiful new Mull LP, Wakelines. We did most of it in my front room. Colin sang one song with one of my boys sitting on the sofa - only because he was waiting to get into the kitchen. My cats watched him sing for weeks. I even recorded that weird Russian harp (gusli) on it when I was really desperate for ideas one night. The shower became my echo chamber and the drum room one of the kids’ rooms. It was quite a lovely time. So I’m going to play guitar for Colin in London in October, and hopefully a few more. Come along. It’s a beautiful record and it’s always nice to play on those ones.”

UK tour dates are below.
